Terms of use

The rules for using this website, the register, and ICSOC badges and certificates.

These terms apply to your use of this website and the ICSOC public register. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. About the service

International Council of Specialized Online Certifications ("ICSOC", "we", "us") provides a public register of educational institutions and an optional recognition service. How recognition works is set out in our recognition policy, which forms part of these terms.

2. Information on the register

  • Information about unrecognized institutions comes from public sources and has not been checked by ICSOC.
  • Information about recognized institutions is based on what the institution gave us and the checks we carried out at the time. It may change after that.
  • We try to keep the register accurate and up to date but do not promise that it is complete or error-free. You should do your own research before making decisions about enrolment or payments.
  • Nothing on this site is professional, legal or financial advice.

3. What recognition is and is not

A recognized status confirms that an institution passed our review at the time. ICSOC is not a government body, regulator or academic accreditor, and recognition is not a guarantee of teaching quality, results, employment outcomes or future conduct. An unrecognized status means only that we have not reviewed the institution.

4. Using ICSOC badges and certificates

  • Only an institution whose status is currently RECOGNIZED may display the ICSOC recognition badge or certificate, and only for the institution named on it.
  • Badges and certificates must not be altered, copied for another organisation, or used in a way that suggests more than the policy allows (for example, as government approval or a guarantee of quality).
  • If a recognition expires or is revoked, the institution must stop displaying the badge and certificate straight away.
  • Anyone can check a certificate number on the check page. We may take action against misuse, including publishing the fact that a certificate is not valid.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the site. In particular, you must not: scrape or copy the register in bulk without our permission; submit false, misleading or defamatory reports or applications; attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its dashboard; interfere with its operation; or use it to harass anyone.

6. Applications, reports and messages

Information you send us through our forms must be accurate and you must have the right to share it. We handle it as described in our privacy policy. We may decline an application or a report at our discretion and are not obliged to give a reason for declining a report.

7. Intellectual property

The site, its design, text, the ICSOC name and logo, and the recognition badge and certificate designs belong to ICSOC or its licensors. Institution names and logos shown on the register belong to their owners and appear only to identify them. You may link to the site and quote small parts of it with credit, but may not otherwise copy or reuse it without permission.

8. Links to other websites

The register links to institutions' own websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or practices. A link is not an endorsement.

9. Our liability

The site and register are provided "as is". To the fullest extent the law allows, ICSOC is not liable for losses arising from your use of, or reliance on, the information on the site, or from the actions of any institution listed on it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will change the date below when we do. Continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms. Questions can be sent to [email protected].
